I've written a couple of posts about embarassing my sons. This time, it was a mutual embarassment....
Due to the hours The Man and I work, the teens help out around the house a lot. They vacuum, dishes, feed the crew, take care of Little Man, things like that. When it comes to the laundry, I only allow Oldest Son to wash it. Usually, I'll throw it in then the boys fold it. When it comes to my personal items, those are usually sorted out and washed seperately. HOWEVER, some of them get thrown in with the regular clothes every now and then.
In these rare instances, the directions are to just leave them in the clothes basket. They don't get folded or handled by my kids. This was after a few embarassing looks and kind of "ewww" faces of my teens.
One afternoon recently, I saw a commercial for thongs at Old Navy. The shoes--flip flips, whatever. They are back to calling them thongs. I'm waiting for Victoria's Secret to start calling thongs what they are: Ass floss.
So the commercial was, "Buy five pairs for $5!" I call to the husband, "Honey! I'm going to Old Navy! They've got thongs on sale five for five dollars! Woohoo!"
It was at this moment my prodigal oldest son walks in. His jaw drops, he looks at me and says.....
"Jesus, Mom. Bad enough I have to fold them. I really didn't need to know where you buy them..."
*Sigh....I didn't even have time to explain it was the shoes.....

Ohhhh! That just made me laugh so hard the Mr. started giving me weird looks. TOO DAMN FUNNY!
Elle,
Totally wrong, right??
That's hilarious.
That was funny! I get that also the eewwwss. I dread the day ms. congeniality finds the toys. She would need therapy for the rest of her life!!
The pic in this post was enough....cracked me up...but the story? even better! Had a friend, years ago, exclaimed she had a thong bathing suit...but it wasnt a thing when she bought it LOL! (she'd gained weight)
Kudos!
love it. You know that's what old navy was aiming for. That situation right there.
I have learned the hard way to only refer to summer footwear as flip-flops now.
Congrats to the Midshipmen for their hard earned victory over ND.
I love the pictures / posters that go with this post.
You have GREAT kids!
He should be lucky you're not as progressive as some moms can be. How would you explain your laundry basket with 2 bandaids and a cork? I rest my case.
LOL.....my mom stayed at my house while my hubby and I were away. She did my laundry and then proceeded to tell a joke about my thongs on my facebook status. Nice mom....that won't embarrass my boys at all....
OOHHH

I NEEDED A LAUGH SO BAD, THANK YOU SO MUCH,

Oh my gosh...I love it. I use to try to do things just to get the better of my kids too.
